TO DO: IMMIGRATION ISSUE:
Source:  Grassroots Leadership:

Dear friends,

We received word yesterday from attorneys working on this case that urgent messages to ICE are needed over the weekend to stop the deportation of Paola Leiva Aguilar, who was assaulted by ICE officers but is scheduled to be deported on Monday.

Please call ICE today on behalf of Paola Leiva Aguilar (A# 098-486-440). She is currently detained at the T. Don Hutto Residential Center in Taylor, Texas. Ms. Leiva Aguilar was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in New Jersey in January 2012. While in ICE custody, Ms. Leiva Aguilar was the victim of felony assault committed against her by three ICE officers. Photos were taken of her injuries. Ms. Leiva Aguilar has reported the crime and is assisting in the investigation. She has been interviewed several times by the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility.

A stay of removal has been filed in Ms. Leiva Aguilar's case, indicating that she is seeking a U Visa. Despite all this, Ms. Leiva Aguilar has been told she will be deported on Monday. Tell ICE not to deport Ms. Leiva Aguilar!

PLEASE CALL AND EMAIL ICE TODAY AND TELL THEM TO STOP THE DEPORTATION OF PAOLA LEIVA AGUILAR!!!

Paola was deported the morning of APRIL 15, despite being the victim of a documented assault by ICE officers. Her attorneys are working on getting her a U-Visa from Honduras.
