TO DO: Immigration/Detention
Source: ACLU

ACLU has drafted an organizational sign-on letter urging Senate Judiciary Committee members to oppose Senator Grassley’s Amendment 17 to S. 744 at markup.  The amendment would create a serious barrier to legalization by severely limiting judicial review for legalization applicants.  It would bar applicants from seeking review of denials by a federal court judge, even in cases where immigration officers did not apply the law correctly or simply made a mistake.
The Committee could take up this amendment as early as Thursday, so pleasesign on by Wednesday, 5/15 at 1 p.m. EST.
You can read the letter and sign on here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1RPnogS7AtzjKAWPlvMhkmjAmZAv1DsZHOC4MGj9Yw10/viewform.  It is also copied below.
NOTE: When filling out the form, PLEASE BE SURE TO CLEARLY LIST THE NAME OF YOUR ORGANIZATION AS IT SHOULD APPEAR ON THE LETTER.
Please circulate widely to colleagues, and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Thanks,
Georgeanne
