Help Us Reach 160 Co-Sponsors in Congress for a Constitutional Amendment to Help Overturn Citizens United and Related Cases
From jobs to poverty, from the environment to health care, the people’s voices don’t seem to matter in our government as much as the voices of Big Business and big-time campaign contributors.
There are a number of good constitutional amendments that have been introduced in the current Congress to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United and related cases.
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) have introduced a powerful constitutional amendment that would prevent corporations from spending to influence elections and enable government to regulate campaign spending from individuals.
While we support many of the amendments that have been introduced, we believe that this amendment is a key piece of the puzzle in our work to overturn the disastrous Citizens Unitedruling, take democracy off the auction block, and preserve constitutional rights for people — not corporations. We’re honored that they named it after our campaign, Democracy Is For People.
Please take a minute to send an email to your representative and senators and ask for them to join Sen. Sanders and Rep. Deutch in co-sponsoring the Democracy Is For People amendment.
